Blackwater Shorthairs is the property of Vicki and Bob Hosack. Vicki came here a long time ago from a small town in Missouri, and I am a Texas son, born and raised. We have always had large goals and implemented standards that always raise the bar and the results shine in our dogs. We believe in keeping our dogs happy, healthy, and a little bit spoiled. They get to spend lots of quality time with us and we’re not sure who likes it the most, the dogs always seem to be smiling.
As for as longevity goes, we’ve been in the GSP business since 2012. We’ve always worked diligently to ensure that our dogs will be well taken care of their entire lives. That includes keeping our dogs vaccinated and health checked regularly and helping members of our Fur Family to know and understand their dogs’ likes and needs, so they can and will be responsible owners. Its all about a good match between people and pets.
We’re not always immediately available because we just stay pretty busy. The good news is we will return calls and messages and happily provide information and advice as best we can. If its a bigger issue than we can handle with you, we’ll do our best to at least point you in the right direction. Fortunately, based on our excellent breeding record and the quality of our dogs, challenges are generally minor and they’re ‘few and far between’. Blackwater Shorthair owners know they can confidently bring one or more of our animals into their lives and enjoy a long, happy, and rewarding relationship with them because our dogs are bred for hallmark traits including intelligence, strong hunt drive, excellent conformation, curiosity, and mild dispositions. We breed great all around athletes that accept training well and interact with people in a gentle positive manner. In short, we really think they’re all you’ll ever want in a dog and then some.
